Clarence was Benny's great-uncle. Benny noted him when Tom asked him if he had any distant family members, Tom proceed to cast a spell which was followed by a phone call which said that Clarence's house had apparently flooded, being a distraction to lure Benny's mother and father away from the house so Tom and Benny could deal with the Grazlax incursion.
